Today, The Total Log Cabin Restoration crew is in Hurdle Mills NC, Person County. The crew is at the property site of Jennifer R. Jennifer is looking to have her log home cleaned and re-coated with Perma-Chink 8525. On this job, Mike the master carpenter will have to work on some repairs.

The crew begins their day preparing the log home for cleaning. This would be the same preparation as stripping. The downspouts are removed for better access to the corner of the cabin, as well as, protecting the downspout from stain. The exterior lighting is covered with plastic and taped up, also to protect from shorting out, and protection from the new application of stain.

On this restoration job, Mike, the company’s carpenter was called in to replace 14 6x6 timbers. Mike was able to complete his work in one day.

The log home will need a full day for drying. In the meantime the crew will inspect all the doors, windows and logs for loose caulking, and replace as needed. After the home has had a chance to dry, a fresh coat of stain is applied to the logs, deck and the rails.
