Log Cabin repair in Ferguson, NC Wilkes County

This week, Total Log Cabin Restoration went to Ferguson, North Carolina, in Wilkes County. Once the crew was on the job site, they began by prepping the cabin and the customers property for the first phase of the restoration process, which is stripping away the old stain and finish.

Part of the prep process, is to remove the downspouts on the corners of the cabin. Next the crew covered and taped all exterior lighting with a thick plastic to prevent any electrical shortage.

The stripping agent is applied to the logs, trim, fascia as well as the deck and rails, as all will be stained with the same color. After the stripping was completed, Mike, our master carpenter was brought in to conduct the repairs on the cabin. As noted, there is one window that had trim damage from rot and one nine foot log, also damaged from rot that will be replaced.

The cabin, deck and rails received two coats of TWP California Cedar. As part of our restoration process, the crew finished up the job by cleaning the windows and exterior light fixtures. This cabin was brought to life again with a fresh look.
