The Total Cabin Restoration team is in Banner Elk, NC to strip and re-coat Marlon Z.’s log cabin. Oseas is the crew leader for this job, so as always, the crew gets started on the preparation process. As with all the restoration jobs, the decks are cleared, and all furniture is removed, The gutter downspouts are also removed to protect them from stain as well as an easy access to the corner. of the home,
All the exterior lighting will also be covered and taped to protect and prevent electrical shortage.
After the preparation is completed, on day one, the crew coats the logs with a stripping agent. The stripper is allowed to work its magic. Twenty minutes later, the stripping agent is washed off with the pressure washer. A member will then apply neutralizer to de-activate the stripper agent. The home’s deck and rails are included in this restoration process.
The following day, after a night of drying time, the crew will sand down the logs to smooth the surface. This will give the logs a uniform look, as well as, prepare the surface for the new stain.
On the third day, the crew will inspect the caulking and replace as needed. The doors, windows are also inspected, and re-caulked in areas that are needed.
The crew is now ready to apply the new stain. The customer selected TWP California Cedar for the body, Sherwin Williams, and Rockwood Terra Cotta for the trim.
This is what Marlon had to say about the job:
I was very satisfied with the work completed, and I found the crew to be courteous and professional. The stain looks a lot darker than what we chose, however, the workers assured us it is the correct colorand it will lighten up once it fully dries in a few weeks.
