Log Cabin Restoration in Jacksonville, NC Onslow County

Today the Log Cabin Restoration crew is in Jacksonville, North Carolina, located in Onslow County. Our customer, Lloyd K. called us because his cabin was in need of recoating the logs with fresh stain a making some repairs on log rot that was noted during the inspection.

For this restoration job, our master carpenter, Mike was brought onboard to evaluate the the damaged logs, and offer Lloyd repair options. After evaluating the logs in question, the carpenter and Lloyd came to the agreement that sanding down the surface rot would be sufficient. The rot was in the beginning stage and the effected area was on the surface only.

The crew, once again started to prep the cabin and it’s perimeter for the stripping and cleaning process. Deck furniture, and loose house decorations were removed and cleared from the cabin. Downspouts were removed from the home and exterior lights were covered and taped up for protection.

Next the crew started stripping the old stain from the logs, followed by neutralizing the logs with a neutralizing agent to deactivate the stripping action. After allowing the logs to dry overnight, the cabin was ready for sanding. Each and every log will be sanded down to ensure removal of old stain product as well as creating a uniform surface for the new stain.
