The Total Log Cabin Restoration crew uses a three part cleaning agent that fights mold and mildew, as well as removes dirt and grime from the logs. The cleaning solution is applied with a sprayer, then rinsed with a pressure washing using only 800 psi. The low pressure will not damage logs.

The day after cleaning, and when the log home has had a chance to dry, the crew will inspect all the caulking, including the window and door frames. Fresh caulking will be applied where it is needed.

On the first day, the crew coats the logs with a stripping agent. The stripper is allowed to work its magic. Twenty minutes later, the stripping agent is washed off with the pressure washer. A member will then apply neutralizer to de-activate the stripper agent.

On the following day, after a night of drying time, the crew will sand down the logs to smooth the surface. This will give the logs a uniform look, as well as, prepare the surface for the new stain.

When the sanding is complete, a Borate treatment is applied to prevent wood eating insects damaging the logs and, or trim.
