The Total Log Cabin Restoration crew is in Staunton, VA, Augusta County. to repair, strip, and re-coat George T’s log home. This log home is in need of some carpentry work, and Mike, our master carpenter will have all the repairs completed before the restoration process gets started. Mike will remove and replace three hundred feet of log rot, twenty two rotted log ends, and installed sixteen feet of log siding on the back wall near the door.

William is the crew leader for this job, and the crew gets started on the preparation process. On the first day, the crew coats the logs with a stripping agent. The stripper is allowed to work its magic. Twenty minutes later, the stripping agent is washed off with the pressure washer. A member will then apply neutralizer to de-activate the stripper agent.

On the following day, after a night of drying time, the crew will sand down the logs to smooth the surface. This will give the logs a uniform look, as well as, prepare the surface for the new stain.

On the third day, after the log home has had a chance to dry, the crew will inspect all the caulking, including the window and door frames. Fresh caulking will be applied where it is needed.

The cabin is ready for the new stain application. This cabin will be stained with TWP California Cedar. The first coat will be applied on day three, and the second coat will be applied on day four.
