Total Log cabin Restoration in Mecklenburg County, Clarksville North Carolina

Permachink Autumn Gold

Let’s travel to Clarksville, VA Mecklenburg County where we beautifully completed a log home restoration for Mike C.! At Total Log Cabin Restoration, we love sharing our log home restoration projects experiences with all our clients!

At Total Log Cabin Restoration, we being each project by prepping the entire log home. TLCR prepped the log home by applying a protective plastic covering all windows, doorways, lights and landscaping. All gutter downspouts are removed and re-attached after stain application. Our TLCR crew then applied a high- grade stripping agent to all logs, trim, and windows. The stripping agent removed any old product, dirt, mold, and debris that had attached to surface. The log home was then power washed using low pressure of 800 psi. A low pressure was used to avoid damage to the logs. After the log home was thoroughly cleaned and all the old product had been removed, a coat of neutralizer was applied to brighten the wood and neutralize the stripper.

Next, the log home was rinsed thoroughly. The rinsing stage of a log home restoration is always an extremely important stage. Our TLCR crew tested different areas on the log home to check the pH level and wood with a moisture meter. Once the wood was dry enough, our TLCR crew sanded the logs and achieved a smooth finish that removed any frayed wood. Sanding allowed the stain to penetrate evenly.

At Total Log Cabin Restoration, we want each log home to remain beautiful for years to come, that is why we apply PermaChink's Shell Guard RTU and Bee Gone treatments that prevent wood decay and insect damage. The log home was then caulked using Perma-Chink's Energy Seal that prevented water from entering and damaging the logs. Caulk was then applied to the outside and inside corners, windows and door jams. Backer rod was used to prevent the caulk from cracking and pulling away from the home.

Our TLCR crew then began to restore the deck and rails by applying a stripping agent that stripped off the old stain, dirt, mold, and debris. A neutralizer was added to brighten the wood and all structural areas where checked and repaired. A 50-grit sandpaper removed all frayed wood and old product. Once the wood dried, our TLCR crew applied one coat of TWP stain to deck and rails. TLCR recommended a recoat the following year for sun exposure protection.

Our TLCR crew then applied 2 coats of Autumn Gold Perma-Chink stain to all logs, siding, and windows and 2 coats of Perma-Chink's Clear Coat once the stain had dried. Perma-Chink is a 4-coat system. Next, we applied a beautiful premium coat of latex paint to doors.

TLCR Clean Up Crew. We’ll NEVER leave you with a mess!

At Total Log Cabin Restoration, we clean-up at the end of each day to establish neatness and safety. We also perform a Final Clean-up at the completion of each project. Our crew will wash all interior and exterior windows and empty all trash cans.
